Hotel Socaire

Our history

Surrounded by an enigmatic atmosphere, full of charm and history about what used to be the Campeche’s village, a fishers and merchants town, that suffers of stalking and misdeeds of many attacks by the pirates, which in turn gave rise to great stories and anecdotes; stories that nowadays are portrayed in every corner at the Historical Center of the city that is considered as Cultural Heritage of Humanity, an appointment made by the UNESCO.

The building that shelters our facilities is a 19th-century colonial mansion, inhabited by the Hurtado Baraona family, with an elegant baroque architecture with high ceilings and connected jards by illuminated hallways and gardens.

The building that occupies our Sotavento restaurant was the first public laundry in the city known as Lavandería Campeche, of modest architecture and a beautiful patio as an alley.

Before it was a hotel, the structure as their facilities were used to as a convent that later was fully abandoned, that over the years this construction was used for a local family who rented to transformed it into a laundry named “Lavandería de Campeche“.

After offering their services for some time and when the leasing contract expired, the facilities returned to the owner’s family who had plans to build a hotel for hunters, because the owner himself loved to hunt. While he couldn’t concrete that plan and the choice to sell the building and making the actual family the new owners, making the mansion a hotel because of the increasing of the tourism in the city and the needing of lodging and taking advantage of the culture and history.

This is how the Socaire Hotel is founded; it started its operations with the hotel, opening doors on September 7th, 2012. A company committed to the needs of rest and comfort towards our guests, which is why we seek the integration of different tourist services to make your stay a great satisfaction, where the guest will be able to know all the colonial and cultural history that our magical state has.
